Nalgene, the brand that popularized water bottles made from hard, clear and nearly unbreakable polycarbonate, will stop using the plastic because of growing concern over one of its ingredients.

While it is commendable that Nalgene is going to stop production of #7 polycarbonate bottles, one could also argue that they should have done it ages ago, and are only now moving forward because the market for these bottles has dropped and will continue to drop. Many ethical merchants have removed these bottles from their shelves, but many more are suddenly having "sales" and one needs to check carefully what they are buying as the industry tries to dump its stock of these bottles.
